MLID54 Tourmaline var. Liddicoatite on Quartz
Mt Ibity, Antsirabé 2 Dist., Vakinankaratra Region, Antananarivo Prov., Madagascar
5.0x 3.9x 1.5 cm
$110

A terminated liddicoatite crystal on quartz.  The tourmaline is a polychrome, though because of the complex color layering and matrix, it looks dark.

Matrix specimens are very hard to find from this locality, as the tourmaline are found in a crumbly, highly decomposed pegmatite.  Virtually the only matrix examples found are tourmaline/ quartz associations.
