CNN31 Smithsonite
Santa Eulalia District, Chihuahua, Mexico
10.0x 4.5x 2.4 cm
$62

A nice sample of smithsonite from a recent find as Santa Eualia.  Unlike most Mexican smithsonite, this one has visible crystals rather than the botryoidal habit that is typically seen from this locality and with the ore abundant pieces from Choix.  As with most Santa Eualia pieces, the color isn't particularly vibrant, but it's a good rich sample of crystalline smithsonite for the locality.

CNN34 Adularia
East Ujimqin Banner, Dongwu Qi), Xilin Gol League (Xilinguole Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
4.2x 2.1x 1.7 cm
$68

A gem crystal of yellow adularia with etched surfaces, from somewhere in Inner Mongolia.  Contacted on the bottom.

CNN35 Ilvaite, Quartz incl. Hedebergite
Huanggang Mine, Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Ulanhad League (Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
5.3x 4.7x 4.2 cm
$52

A nice ball-shaped aggregate of green, hedenbergite included quartz crystals, associated (or rather, growing over) a radiating cluster of black ilvaite crystals.  There is a bit of damage, but still a very interesting and unusual formation that displays exactly as shown.

CNN39 Celestite
Yunnan Prov., China
5.5x 3.4x 2.0 cm
$64

An unusual example of celestite from an even more unusual locality in southwestern China.  Most of what you see comes from Madagascar, with the odd piece from somewhere in the Midwestern USA.  Good reference piece for the price.

CNN43 Galena and Sphlaerite on Quartz
Palomo Mine, Castrovirreyna Prov., Huancavelica Dept., Peru
8.0x3.4x 2.7 cm

A nice example of a galena crystal positioned on a pillar of matrix, shared with small quartz crystals and sphalerite.  Specimens from this mine were a staple of Peruvian mineral dealers for several years, but there has been almost no production for the last couple years.

CNN44 Smithsonite
Santa Eulalia District, Chihuahua, Mexico
8.1x 5.4x 3.8 cm
$54

A nice sample of smithsonite from a recent find as Santa Eualia.  Unlike most Mexican smithsonite, this one has visible crystals rather than the botryoidal habit that is typically seen from this locality and with the ore abundant pieces from Choix.  As with most Santa Eualia pieces, the color isn't particularly vibrant, but it's a good rich sample of crystalline smithsonite for the locality.

CNN45 Scheelite on Lollingite
Huanggang Mine, Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Ulanhad League (Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
5.7x 4.1x 4.6 cm
$72

A decent reference sample of a somewhat unsual combination from Huanggang-- an etched scheelite crystal on a lollingite sheaf.  It's not entirely perfect (I have a couple of those elsewhere on the site marked at $400+) but this a great reference for the price.

CNN47 Tourmaline
Betafo District, Vakinankaratra Region, Antananarivo Province, Madagascaraaaaa
3.4x 1.65x 1.4 cm
$48

An interesting tourmaline crystal from Madagascar, with the tiny internal tubes running its length that give it a partial cat's eye effect in certain areas.  The crystal is etched on the back and has multiple step-like terminations.  I'm not sure if this is a liddicoatite or something else (I've seen similar pieces from the area labeled dravite) so I'm just going to mark it as tourmaline.

CNN49 Hutchinsonite with Orpiment
Quiruvilca Dist., Santiago de Chuco Prov., La Libertad Dept., Peru
5.3x 3.8x 1.7 cm
$62

A nice sample of the very rare thallium-bearing mineral hutchinsonite, from finds made a couple years back at Quiruvilca.  These were first found in the 80's and all but disappeared into collections.  Over the last 3-4 years, a few small new finds of the material have been made. This one features a group of crystals on matrix with nicely contrasting orpiment.

CKK01 Wulfenite
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
7.8x 5.5x 3.4 cm

A nice example of wulfenite from the famous find several years ago that produced these distinctive, elongated crystals on the limonite matrix that so easily distinguishes specimens from Mina Ojuela.

CKK02 Shattuckite
Kaokoveld Plateau, Kunene Region, Namibia
6.6x 3.4x 3.7 cm

An exceptionally rich sample of shattuckite from northwestern Namibia.  These usually occur as somewhat thin casts of fissures in no longer present quartz matrixes, or the shattuckite is seen as a thin layer still present on the host rock.  On this piece, the mass of shattuckite is unusually thick and rich.

CKK11 Adamite
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
8.8x 6.2x 2.6 cm

A nice example of bright yellow adamite on a limonite matrix, form recent finds at Mina Ojuela.

CKK14 Wulfenite
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
5.6x 3.8x 1.5 cm

A group of blocky wulfenite crystals perched on the edge of a limonite matrix.  A nice miniature sample form a recent find that has produced yet another interesting Ojeula wulfenite habit.

CKK19 Brucite
Killa Saifullah District., Baluchustan, Pakistan
4.6x 3.5x 2.2 cm

An excellent brucite specimen, from a recent Pakistani find that raises the bar for the species. This one combintes good, bright yellow color and saturation, with excellent form.

Until this find, brucite was not often seen as particularly attractive specimens-- perhaps the most famous are the antique pieces from Pennsylvania, but those generally lack the color saturation of these (and are generally priced in the thousands of dollars.)  Aside from the Pennsylvania pieces, there are also examples from the Kalahari Manganese fields and from the Urals ( both are blue to whitish gray) though they seldom have the same richness or visual appeal, and none but the finest few have a color saturations as good as the new Pakistani examples.

CKK24 Wulfenite
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
5.3x 4.5x 2.8 cm
$42

A nice sample of wulfenite from recent finds at Mina Ojuela.  The habit from this find is somewhat blockier and more pseudo cubic than what usually comes from this locality.

CKK26 Zircon
Seiland Island, Alta, FInnmark, Norway
4.9x 2.8x 3.3 cm
$58

A well crystalized zircon sample on matrix, from recent workings on Seiland Island.

CKK27 Fluorite on Arsenopyrite
Huanggang Mine, Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Ulanhad League (Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
7.0x 5.7x 3.4 cm
$120

A nice example of colorless fluorite on an arsenopyrite matrix, from finds made a few years back at the Huanggang Mine.  The dealer who I purchased this piece form had a retail price of $380 on the specimen, I purchased his entire room at a substantial discount and recently rediscovered this piece in my flats.

CKK31 Quartz incl. Hedebergite
Huanggang Mine, Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Ulanhad League (Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
7.1x 4.2x 4.4 cm

4.4x 1.9x 1.5 cm
$68

A well formed, terminated prism of calcium-rich liddicoatite tourmaline on a scrap of matrix. An excellent reference example of the species.

CKK35 Olshanskyite
Shijiangshan Mine, Linxi Co., Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
5.4x 4.1x 2.9 cm
$76

A decently sized reference specimen of the rare borate olshanskyite, from the relatively new find in Inner Mongolia.  Prior to this find, the only olshanskyite you might have seen would have been a microscopic association somewhere on a Japanese henmilite specimen.  These crystals are huge by comparison, and the specimen is quite rich.  There is some damage, so I've priced it as a reference. there is a tiiiny bit of roweite on the piece as well.

CKK36 Adamite
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
8.0x 7.5x 2.2 cm
$78

A rich, cabinet sized specimen of yellow admit on limonite matrix, from recent finds at the Ojuela Mine.

CKK40 Brucite
Killa Saifullah District., Baluchustan, Pakistan
4.1x 2.8x 2.2 cm
$42

CKK48 Rhodizite-Londonite
Antsongombato, Betafo Region, Madagascar
4.4x 3.0x 1.2 cm

A very nice example of rhodizite-londonite on matrix, from central Madagascar.  Rhodizite is a rare borate mineral known as good specimens pretty much only from central Madagascar.

CKK49 Liddicoatite Tourmaline on Quartz
Mt. Ibity, Antsirabe 2 Dist., Vakinankaratra Region, Antananarivo Prov., Madagascar
4.2x 3.5x 2.8 cm
$60

A nice example of liddicoatite tourmaline, with a couple terminated crystals inter grown with a light smoky quartz crystals.  Matrix examples are somewhat rare from this locality, as the weathered nature of the pegmatites tends to make them rather crumbly.

Mt. Ibity, Antsirabe 2 Dist., Vakinankaratra Region, Antananarivo Prov., Madagascar
4.0x 3.2x 3.0 cm
$68

Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
7.7x 5.5x 3.8 cm
$68

A rare example of fluorite from the find approximately 2 years ago at the Ojuela Mine.  This has been one of the most prolific and consistent specimen producing mines for years, though fluorite has always been something of a rarity there.

Kaokoveld Plateau, Kunene Region, Namibia
5.3x 4.2x 3.4 cm
$74

A nice sample of a shattuckite-lined bug, overgrown with druzy quartz.

CCH24 Shattuckite with Quartz
Kaokoveld Plateau, Kunene Region, Namibia
4.1x 3.1x 2.1 cm
$68

A nice example of shattuckite overgrown with a layer of druzy quartz, from Namibia.  The odd, angular shape of the piece is typical of many shattuckite specimens from the area-- the mineral seems to have crystalized in the voids between crystals that were later dissolved.

CCH26 Adamite
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
5.0x 3.3x 2.7 cm
$44

A nice sample of yellow adamite on a limonite matrix, from recent finds at Mina Ojuela.

CDD01 Wulfenite
Villa Ahumada, Los Lamentos, Chihuahua, Mexico
8.8x 7.7x 3.1 cm

An old example of wulfenite from Los Lamentos.  This piece is not entirely perfect, but the crystals have good luster and contrast nicely with the yellow and white matrix, and the tiny brown endlichite (arsenian vanadinite crystals) add a nice touch.  Particularly considering the prices that these things have started to go for in the last couple years, this is a very good example for the price.

CDD03 Fluorite
Okorusu Mine, Otjiwarongo District, Otjozondjupa Region, Namibia
9.1x 5.0x 3.2 cm

A nice cabinet sized example of green fluorite from the Okorusu mine, in Namibia. The crystals are more distinct than the pictures indicate....

4.6x 4.5x 3.2 cm
$62

A bright tetrahedrite crystal, on matrix. Not entirely perfect, but very nice arrangement and good crystal size.  The distinct faces on the display side also set it apart from the messier examples from Mundo Nuevo that have dominated the market in recent years.

CDD26 Calcite
Holloway Quarry, Newport, Michigan, United States
6.3x 5.7x 5.3 cm
$58

A great example of calcite from one of the more obscure Midwestern calcite localities-- specimens turn up at small shows in the Midwest, but I don't think I've ever seen one at one of the major international shows-- many of the less famous localities were the domain of field collectors back in the 60's, 70's, and 80's, and as such many of these specimens tended to be exchanged locally.

CDD33 Tetrahedrite and Hubnerite on Quartz
Mundo Nuevo District, Santiago de Chuco Prov., La Libertad Dept., Peru

CDD44 Brookite
Magnet Cove, Hot Spring Co., Arkansas, United States
3.8x 2.7x 1.8 cm

A rather large blocky brookite crystal on a bit of matrix, from Arkansas.  These days just about all the brookite you see is Pakistani, with the odd piece from Russia turning up every once in a while.... and unlike those, this one isn't paper thin and prone to breakage.

CDD45 Axinite
Colebrook Hill, Tasmania, Australia
5.7x 3.7x 3.7 cm
