A very beautiful cluster of smaller, "starburst" like quartz clusters from the Goboboseb Area. This area is best known for its amethyst, though has recently produce these as well.

CDC11 Bournonite on Pyrite

A very beautiful, almost flower-like cluster of bournonite crystals on a matrix of octahedral pyrite. This is a rather unusual combination for this area. This would easily be 4-5 times as much, except for bits of damage. Sawn bottom edge.

A really weird specimen-- this is an epimorph of fluorite after muscovite. When I arrived, they had just started finding a bunch of these clusters of green fluorites on the south face of the mountain, about 1/2 of the way up. Most are somewhat formless clusters, but upon closer investigation, this one is actually an epimorph after an elongated muscovite book (one of that mineral's typical habits on Erongo.) Looking closely, you can clearly see the hexagonal outline of the muscovite that is no longer there-- especially when looking down from the top of the specimen as in the (bottom right image)

A chunky hedenbergite crystal from the Huanggang Mine. Hedenbergite is a common accessory mineral int his mine-- it frequently occurs as a coating or matrix component with more desirable minerals. These were collected early in the discoveries at Huanggang, I'm guessing there is a lot more down there but the miners probably focus on things like fluorite, ilvaite, or quartz.

A natural example of this hydrated aluminosilicate mineral from South Korea. Sepiolite has wide variety of industrial uses, from acting as an absorbent to being a component of some cigarette filters and anti-caking agents. You would probably have an easier time buying a container load of powdered material than finding a specimen. To that end, being is specimen is probably it's least "action packed" application.....

A decent example from an interesting new find in Bolivia-- brownish-orange cerussite. I can't recall seeing any cerussites from this country in the past (carbonates in general are certainly not Bolivia's strong point)-- these are a little odd, both for their locality and because they have minute inclusions (probably some sulfide) that have colored them this way.

An interesting combination specimen from Erongo-- many small blue aquamarines sitting on the tip of a schorl crystal. There are quite a few places where these two species occur side by side in abundance-- in Pakistan, Brazil, etc, yet somehow it seems like Erongo is the place where you more frequently encounter these more odd arrangements and overgrowths.

An elongated, flattened calcite crystal overgrown with quartz, apophyllite, and even a little stilbite. From the basalt quarries of the Deccan plateau. Many of these are pseudomorphs-- looking at the bottom of this one however, you can see it still retains its calcite core.

A stacked pair of partial fluorite crystals, with very pretty color. These come from the Brandberg area of Namibia, better known for its specimens of amethyst and other quartz. Reasonably large crystals, for the location.

A very unusual copper specimen from the Democratic Republic of Congo-- despite being the site of one of the world's largest coper deposits, you almost never see the native element itself. This piece is a cluster of two rather large, crude crystal that have the very definitive outline of crystalline copper. The surfaces have a reddish patina that seems to be colored primarily by micro cuprite.

A nice example of slightly greenish yellow smithsonite from China. China has produced large quantities of most of the "main" collectible mineral species, but smithsonite still remains one of the less frequently encountered ones-- except perhaps from this locality in Yunnan, which has intermittently produced specimens over the last several years.

A beautiful reference sample of apatite with quartz. The top left edge is damaged, though in such a way that it almost looks like a face. If this were perfect, the price would be several hundred dollars. Even with the damage, based on pictures I saw from a mineral show, the couple other dealers who I have seen with these are asking much much more for (also imperfect) examples.
