CFC22 Fluorite on Quartz
Huanggang Mine, Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Ulanhad League (Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
4.1x 3.0x 2.4 cm
$34

A reference sample of light green fluorite clustered around the termination of a white quartz crystal.

CFC23 Smithsonite
Lavrion, Attica, greece
4.4x 2.8x 2.0 cm
$42

A nice example of light green, crystalized smithsonite from a mining area that has been exploited for over 2000 years.

CJC47 Pyromorphite
Mfouati Area, Bouenza Dept., Republic of Congo
7.5x 6.0x 3.7 cm
$62

A nice reference example of pyromorphite on matrix, from recent finds at the Mfouati Mine. I used to see these available every once in a while when I was a kid-- those came from discoveries made sometimes in the 70's.  This is more recent production. The green is a bit duller in person, but this is intended as a reference of a rather rare African pyromorphite-- apart from Broken Hill, Zimbabwe and a few one-offs from Mt. Malosa, you really don't see the mineral much from this massive continent.

CJC46 Dioptase with Mimetite
Ntola Mine, Mindouli, Pool Dept., Republic of Congo
7.5x 6.0x 6.0 cm

A nice example of bright green dioptase with scattered yellow mimetite, from the Ntola Mine. A bit sparser than others, but somehow this makes it stand out a bit-- you can appreciate the individual dioptase crystals (however small), and their individual lusters (you'll see what I mean).

CJC45 Dioptase with Mimetite
Ntola Mine, Mindouli, Pool Dept., Republic of Congo
5.0x 3.9x 2.3 cm
$48

A nice example of bright green dioptase, with beautifully contrasting yellow mimetite, on matrix.

CJC43 Wulfenite, Quartz, Torbernite (?)
Mfouati Area, Bouenza Dept., Republic of Congo
6.9x 6.8x 4.4 cm

An interesting example of wulfenite on quartz, with a small platy grin crystal of something that I suspect to be torbernite, zeunerite, or a related U mineral.  Whatever the green thing is, the piece is still an attractive reference wulfenite from this locality.

CJC42 Hemimorphite
Mfouati Area, Bouenza Dept., Republic of Congo
11.0x 8.8x 4.0 cm
$68

A nice cabinet sized example of hemimorphite form Mfouati.  These have have some resemblance to the more common pieces from Ojuela, but the crystals tend to be somewhat more robust. A great reference.

CJC41 Smithsonite
Mfouati Area, Bouenza Dept., Republic of Congo
4.7x 2.3x 2.2 cm
$52

A very good example (for this locality) of nearly white (with a faint green tinge?) smithsonite from recent finds at Mfouati. This piece consists of a nearly complete vug, hitting numerous rice-grain habit crystals that border on botryoidal.

CJC40 Cerussite with Wulfenite
Mfouati Area, Bouenza Dept., Republic of Congo
2.5x 2.2x 1.0 cm
$62

A very nice example of cerussite with wulfenite, from Mfouati.  This thumbnail consists of a twinned cerussite, with a yellow/orange wulfenite embedded in the center-- there is a chip on the right "wing" of the cerussite, but it is a bit difficult to see.

CJC37 Cerussite
Mfouati Area, Bouenza Dept., Republic of Congo
1.9x 1.5x 1.2 cm
$42

A nice little thumbnail example of cerussite, from Mfouati. The cerussites form his locality are often somewhat smoky, an the color tends to get the overlooked, despite at times being quite significant for the species.  This is a nice, very sharp, little sixling, on a scrap of matrix.

CJC36 Duftite (?) in Quartz
Mindouli Area, Pool Dept., Republic of Congo
10.2x 4.8x 4.0 cm
$110

While most of the included green quartz from this area is colored by dioptase, this piece has a somewhat yellower hue.  I suspect the inclusion is duftite, but I could be mistaken.  These are somewhat rarer than the blue or green examples colored by plancheite or dioptase (respectively) that look almost identical,  except for the color.  Sawn on the back/sides

CJC33 Malachite
Boko Songho-Mfouati Area, Bouenza Dept., Republic of Congo
10.6x 8.1x 5.5 cm
$68

A very unusual specimen of malachite from the Republic of Congo.  This one is a very soft sedimentary matrix containing a layer of velvety malachite in a vug. The intereting part however, are the elongated, floss-like malachite crystals contained within.  It reminds me a bit of the classic Austrian pieces from Maukenotz, in the Tyrol region, though less curly.

CJC31 Kotttigite
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
3.0x 2.0x 1.9 cm
$88

A great thumbnail sized example of this very rare hydrated zinc arsenate from Mina Ojuela. This one has two lightly bluish green sprays on a limonite matrix-- very hard to obtain material!

CJC30 Cerussite
Mfouati Area, Bouenza Dept., Republic of Congo
3.5x 3.5x 1.6 cm
$48

A nice example of lightly smoky cerussite from recents finds at the Mfouati Mine.  This mine has produced very little since the 60's-70's, when it was worked by French and Soviet enterprises.

CJC28 Dioptase
Mindouli Area, Pool Dept., Republic of Congo
5.8x 2.7x 1.7 cm
$72

A very beautiful example of rich green dioptase, from recent finds near Mindouli.

CJC27 Cerussite
Mfouati Area, Bouenza Dept., Republic of Congo
5.0x 3.6x4.5 cm
$78

A good reference example of reticulated cerussite from Mfouati.  The retuculated cerussites from this locality tend to be a little more smokey and rounded, but the crystals reach rather impressive sizes. This admittedly lacks the sexiness of a Tsumeb or Nakhlak piece, but it it actually quite good for the locality!

CJC26 Cerussite
Mfouati Area, Bouenza Dept., Republic of Congo
5.8x 3.7x 3.1 cm
$58

A very nice example of cerussite on a gossan matrix, surrounded by small mimetite crystals. A very good example from a locality that has produced very little since the 1960's-70, when it was worked by French and Soviet companies.

CJC25 Cerussite
Mfouati Area, Bouenza Dept., Republic of Congo
2.8x 1.8x 1.8 cm

A very beautiful thumbnail sized example of cerussite on matrix, hosting a very gemmy, bright crystal.

CJC24A Dioptase
Mindouli Area, Pool Dept., Republic of Congo
6.2x 4.0 x 2.0 cm
$48

A nice example of dioptase, with two super bright, gemmy green crystals on a dark matrix.  Between the vibrant color of the dioptase, and the color of the matrix, this almost looks like a Colombian emerald specimen.

CJC01 Hemimorphite
79 Mine, Chilito, Dripping Spring Mountains , Gila Co., Arizona, USA
8.4x 5.0x 3.4 cm
$68

A very nice example of hemimorphite from recent finds at the 79 Mine.

A rich example of vanadinite from recent finds at a mine about 15 miles south of the US/Mexico border.

CJC04 Dioptase with Mimetite
Ntola Mine, Mindouli, Pool Dept., Republic of Congo
9.3x 6.8x 3.4 cm
$115

A nice example of dioptase with yellow mimetite, from finds made last year at Ntola. Priced at $180 in my show stock.

CJC09 Calcite with Vanadinite

CJC13 Hemimorphite
Mfouati Area, Bouenza Dept., Republic of Congo
4.7x4.4x 2.0 cm
$44

A nice example of very light blue hemimorphite from Mfouati. There are a number of quarries and mines int he area, these crystalline examples come from a different  (though close by) location than the botryoidal pieces.

CJC14 Austinite
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
8.3x 5.3x 2.7 cm
$88

A rich and decently sized example of yellow austinite from finds made last summer at the Ojuela Mine. Although it resembles the much more common adamite,  austinite incorporates calcium in the chemical composition, and has always been rare at the mine.

CJC15 Hemimorphite n Smithsonite
79 Mine, Chilito, Dripping Spring Mountains , Gila Co., Arizona, USA
8.0x 4.x 4.6 cm
$78

A nice combination of light blue smithsonite on dark olive smithsonite, perhaps he most famous combination to come from this mine.  A nice reference of this combination, and particularly like the wavy/ petal-like habit of the hemimorphite.

CJC16 Vanadinite with Calcite
San Carlos (Apex) Mine, Chihuahua, Mexico
7.4x 6.4x 4.3 cm
$68

A rich example of calcite and vanadinite crystals, from recent finds at a mine located approximately 15 miles south of the US border.

CJC17 Scorodite
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
4.3x 2.0x 3.2 cm
$62

A nice reference sample of one of the most sought after minerals from Ojuela. This one doesn't have the big blue crystals that collectors lust after, but it is a very very rare example of this material. For a short period in 2019, the miners were working in area were examples were once again being found, after at least a decade of nothing. There is a slight color shift observable in strong, direct sunlight.... but again, the crystals are dark.

CJC20 Calcite with Vanadinite
San Carlos (Apex) Mine, Chihuahua, Mexico
4.9x 4,8x 2,0 cm
$46

A very nice example of lustrous calcite overgrowing a matrix covered with small, bright orange vanadinite crystals.

CJC21 Vanadinite

6.1x 4.6x 2.5 cm
$58

A rich example of vanadinite from recent finds at a mine about 15 miles south of the US/Mexico border.

CJC22 Vanadinite in Calcite
San Carlos (Apex) Mine, Chihuahua, Mexico
2.8x 2.4x 2.3 cm
$38

A nice little miniature, consisting of calcite rhombs with vanadinite inclusions. From recent finds at a mine about 15 miles south of the US border.

CPC03 Quartz on Dioptase
Mindouli Area, Pool Dept., Republic of Congo
8.0x 5.0x 3.0 cm
$88

An interesting specimen of smoky (?) quartz on massive green dioptase.  Although there are no  dioptase crystals, the unusual dioptase matrix makes for a very interesting color contrast with the darker quartz

CPC04 Quartz with Hematite
Dongwu Qi, Inner Mongolia A.R., China
10.1x 1.9x 1.9 cm
$62

A nice example of a terminated quartz crystal hosting small metallic crystals of hematite, with a general reddish hue caused by iron oxide.

CPC05 Plumbogummite ps. Pyromorphite
Daoping-Yangshuo Orebody, Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang A.R., China
8.8x 4.0x 5.1 cm

A nice example of light green pyromorphite pseudomorphing into blue pyromorphite, with all the crystals in a seam/vug that runs the length of the limonite matrix.

CPC06 Pyromorphite
Daoping-Yangshuo Orebody, Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang A.R., China
3.3x 2.7x 1.6 cm

A very deep green example of pyromorphite from th Daoping-Yangshuo orebody.  It isn't too big, but the color is really good-- it doesn't have the strong yellow hues that Chinese pyromorphite usually have-- this is closer to the good, 1980's Lafarge green.

CPC07 Pyromorphite
Mfouati Area, Bouenza Dept., Republic of Congo
8.5x 5.8x 4.0 cm
$82

A nice example of yellowish, barrel-like crystals of pyromorphite on matrix, from Congo. I saw some if this material available years ago that probably dated to the 1970's, and encountered a few more (fresher) examples of this material on my recent trip.  Interesting locality for the species, there are not too many documented African pyromorphite localities.

CPC08 Fluorite
Xiayang Mine, Fujian Prov., China
9.7x 7.3x 2.2 cm
$72

A nice example of light green, dodecahedral fluorite sharing a matrix with numerous small quartz crystals.  There are fluorite crystals on both the front and back.

3.0x 1.5x 1.4 cm

A nice thumbnail sized specimen of gemmy cerussite from recent finds int he Mfouati Area.

CPC14 Dioptase
Mindouli Area, Pool Dept., Republic of Congo
4.0x 3.2x 2.3 cm
$100

A really odd specimen of solid dioptase crystals, though they are more flattened sand sheetlike, than the elongated prisms that are more often encountered.

CPC15 Malachite
Boko Songho-Mfouati Area, Bouenza Dept., Republic of Congo
10.6x 6.8x 5.0 cm
$88

A nice example of malachite from the Republic of Congo--- NOT the Democratic Republic of Congo, where 98% of the malachite on the market comes from.  Most of the malachite from the Republic of Congo is excavated by Chinese or Lebanese firms, then sent to China to be processed into finished goods. Specimens are not common!

CPC16 Cerussite
Mfouati Area, Bouenza Dept., Republic of Congo
4.3x 3.x 2.4 cm
$46

A nice example of a gemmy cerusite crystal on matrix, from recent finds at the Mfouati Mine.

CPC20 Fluorite
Xiayang Mine, Fujian Prov., China
4.9x 3.2x 2.8 cm
$40

A nice cubic crystal of calcite on a bit of matrix, from finds made in 2018 at the Xiayang Mine.

CPC21 Olshanskyite
Shijiangshan Mine, Linxi Co., Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
3.6x 2.8x 2.1 cm
$38

A nice sized reference specimen of the rare borate olshanskyite, from the relatively new find in Inner Mongolia.  Prior to this find, the only olshanskyite you might have seen would have been a microscopic association somewhere on a Japanese henmilite specimen.  These crystals are huge by comparison.  There is some damage, so I've priced it as a reference.

CPC22 Powellite
Nasik Area, Maharashtra State, India
1.65x 1.4x 1.1 cm

A rare thumbnail example of powellite, scheelite's rarer cousin.  Powellite is one of the rarer minerals from the Indian basalt traps, and though is found in association with zeolites, is not a zeolite itself.

CPC23 Quartz with Plancheite
Mindouli Area, Pool Dept., Republic of Congo
6.5x 4.0x 3.7 cm
$39

This is mostly a quartz specimen, but the quartz seems to have grown on a very thin layer of plancheite, that gives a very narrow blue outline to the piece.

CXC01J1 Dioptase
Ntola Mine, Mindouli, Pool Dept., Republic of Congo
8.4x 5.8x 3.8 cm
$130

A nice example of bright green dioptase in a vug, from recent finds at the Ntola Mine.  Quite good for the price, I think.  A price of $200+ would not be unreasonable. Sawn on the back.

CXC01T Cuproaustinite
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
7.0x 6.8x 5.6 cm
$78

A nice example of green cuproaustinite from recent finds at the Ojuela Mine.  This specimen has a fair amount of the mineral in a limonite vug.

A nice example of quartz over plancheite, from recent finds in the Republic of Congo.

CXC01Q Rhodizite-Londonite
Antsongombato, Betafo Region, Madagascar
3.6x 2.8x 2.0 cm
$40

A nice example of rhodizite-londonite on matrix, from Antsongambato. There is some liddicoatite frozen in the matrix, this is visible form the back.

CXC01P Dioptase with Shattuckite
Mindoui Area, Pool Dept., Republic of Congo
6.4x 3.7x 4.2 cm
$145

A very beautiful example of dioptase with nicely contrasting blue plancheite. This piece hosts two very large compound crystals of dioptase, to 1.9 cm. The compound nature of the crystals and the sub-surface inclusions make it a bit difficult to photograph, but it is still a pretty good piece. Price at $275 in my show stock.

CXC01E Hemimorphite
Mfouati Area, Bouenza Dept., Republic of Congo
4.1x 3.4x 2.2 cm
$38

A nice reference sample of sparkly blue hemimorphite from recent finds int he Republic of Congo.  At first glance, it looks very similar to the material from Yunnan Prov., China.. This material has not been collected in any significant quantity since the 1960's, when French and Soviet enterprises were active in the area. Some scuffing present.

CXC01C Gibbsite
Yunnan Prov., China
5.5x5.1x 4.1 cm

A nice reference sample of blue gibbsite, from recent finds in southwestern China.

CXC01D Fluorite on Quartz
Xiayang Mine, Fujian Prov., China
4.5x 2.2x 1.9 cm

A well formed, but very dark blush-purple fluorite crystal from the Xiayang Mine, perched on a scrap of matrix.  With strong backlighting, you can see the color, but even without it, the form is rather nice.

Yunnan Prov., China
5.5x5.1x 4.1 cm
$58

A nice reference sample of blue gibbsite, from recent finds in southwestern China.
