A nice example of a "pagoda calcite" from the Daye Mine, these were found many years ago, though there was a find late last year as well. This piece comes from the newer find, minor scuffing though in pretty good condition overall.

Palomo Mine, Castrovirreyna Prov., Huancavelica Dept., Peru
10.0x 7.8x 5.0 cm
$68

A quartz plate with interspersed sphalerite crystals, and some pyrite.  The Palomo Mine produced a lot of material in the early 2010's, then production suddenly stopped. This is the locality best known for producing the Peruvian realgar.

Kunming District, Yunnan Prov., China
5.6x 3.8x 2.8 cm
$96

A nice example of the very rare species veszelyite, from a recent find in southwestern China. These are best known from the 60's-70's finds at the Black Pine Mine in Idaho, USA-- for decades those were the only available examples.  Then around 2020-2021, there were two nearly simultaneous, separate finds of the species in both the Republic of Congo and China.

CHC23 Fluorite
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
3.9x 3.5x 2.5 cm
$58

A vivid green (with the correct light) etched fluorite crystal on a muscovite-rich matrix, with (I think) a small magnetite or hematite crystal next to it.

CHC24 Feldspar/ Amazonite
Klein Spitzkoppe, Erongo Region, Namibia
6.5x 4.8x 4.3 cm
$68

A satisfyingly chunky feldspar crystal from Klein Spitzkoppe, with a couple areas of bluish amazonite. Some contacting on the reverse, but displays well from multiple angles-- it looks kind of like a plaster crystallographic model. This location is best known for its topaz, but also produces beryl, smoky quartz, and feldspar.

CHC25 Fluorite on Schorl Tourmaline
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
4.6x 3.3x 3.0 cm
$96

A really interesting example of fluorite on schorl, a sort of lollipop.... pieces like this are why I love Erongo-- the species associations themselves may not be terribly unusual, but the ways they are combined tend to be particularly unique!

CHC26 Copper
Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga, Democratic Republic of Congo
9.3x 3.6x 2.9 cm

A very rare example of copper from the Katanga Copper Crescent region of the Southern D.R. Congo.  It might sound ridiculous for copper to be rare in a region bearing its name, and that also happens to contain one of the world's richest deposits of the metal, but native copper is almost never seen as specimens from here. These are rather crude crystals, but you can definitely see the form of the copper, and they seem have a surface alteration of cuprite.

CHC27 Pyrite, Chalcopyrite, and Quartz
Jiangxi Prov., China
10.3x 6.8x 2.5 cm

A beautiful plate of quartz crystals with chalcopyrite accents, some of these in turn have overgrowths of pyrite, adding an extra sparkle.

Auglaize Quarry, Junction, Paulding Co., Ohio, United States
5.8x 5.0x 3.7 cm

A sample of highly sought after (at least here in the Midwest) purple fluorite from the Auglaize Quarry, in Ohio.  The side crystal is cleaved-- still, a very good reference for the price.

A beautiful quartz specimen with amethystine zoning, from the Goboboseb Mountains. This crystal has a small moving bubble.

CHC32 Quartz var. Amethyst
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
5.4x 2.8x 1.9 cm
$48

A reference example of amethyst from Erongo mountain, and a scepter too. Amethyst is quite common from the Goboboseb area, located many km northwest of Erongo, but it's quite uncommon on Erongo itself.  This comes from a recent discovery.

CHC33 Slag
Tsumeb Mine, Otjikoto Region, Namibia
7.0x 5.5x 2.0 cm
$56

Not a mineral, more of a mining/historical oddity for all the Tsumeb buffs out there-- this is a piece of slag, the waste product of ore refined at Tsumeb decades ago. For obvious reasons, the miners didn't bother selling these, though I've seen a couple in collections and I suppose it would be something of a curio for those with a special interest in this historic locality.

CHC34 Smoky Quartz

A nice example of smoky quartz with lustrous schorl tourmalines near the base.  The main quartz crystal has a sort of "boa" wrapped around near the top.  There is chipping not he main quartz, though still particularly good from overall.

CHC44 Corundum var. Sapphire
Transvaal, South Africa
5.7x 3.9x 2.9 cm
$58

A decently sized sapphire crystal from South Africa, showing rather good form.

CHC45 Muscovite with Fluorite

$74

An unusual example of muscovite with fluorite from very recent finds on the southern face of Erongo Mountain.

CHC46 Beryl var. Aquamarine on Schorl Tourmaline
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
4.3x 1.8x 1.5 cm

An unusual example of small blue aquamarines on schorl.  Erongo produces such odd combinations-- seeing these two species together is nothing new, in fact it is downright common from Pakistan-- but the odd ways that various species grow together at Erongo is what makes it one of my favorite localities.

CHC47 Calcite
Pugh Quarry, Weston, Wood Co., Ohio, United States
10.0x 5.4x 5.1 cm

A nice example of orange calcite from the Pugh Quarry, in Ohio.

CHC51 Barite
Rock River, Yukon, Canada
6.8x 4.8x 4.3 cm
$64

A reference sample of barite from a very remote location in northwestern Canada-- not perfect, but not a common locality.

CHC52 Calcite
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
3.8x 2.7x 1.3 cm
$42

A very odd calcite rhomb from Erongo-- it has the standard crystal shape, but very unusual zoning-- some kind of sand inclusions perhaps?  I'm used to seeing this sort of thing with selenite, though it's the first time I can recall seeing such clear zoning (presumably caused by sand) in a calcite crystal.

CHC53 Fluorite
Goboboseb Mtns., Brandberg Area, Erongo Region, Namibia
5.1x 3.8x 2.9 cm

An odd new discovery from Namibia's Brandberg Regoin: clusters of orangish-brown fluorite. If you walked up to me in Tucson and showed me this, my first guess would probably be Henan Province, China.... but it's actually from the area best known for its world-class Amethyst.

Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
3.6x 2.6x 2.6 cm
$58

A pair of fluorite crystals on a spray of schorl tourmaline crystals, from Erongo.  As with many Erongo fluorites, the internal zoning of the crystals makes the color somewhat odd and highly dependent on lighting-- its somewhere between purple and dark green, depending on the light.

CHC57 Dolomite
Barett Quarry, Norwood, St. Lawrence Co., New York, United States
4.1x 3.7x 3.6 cm
$36

An old example of well crystalized, pinkish Dolomite from Upstate New York.  Old material dating to the 1970's.

A nice green cluster of prehnite crystals on matrix, from the Brandberg area of Namibia.

CHC64 Schorl Tourmaline
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
6.1x 5.2x 3.3 cm
$38

A nice example of very sharp, lustrous schorl crystals scattered about on a feldspar matrix. From recent finds on the south eastern side of the mountain.

CHC65 Calcite
Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
4.1x 1.2x 1.0 cm
$40

An unusual calcite crystal from Erongo-- for all the species that this area produces, calcite is definitely not one that comes to mind.  This piece has an unusual, elongated habit.
